His excuses may have been valid.but I decided not to do business with him. I asked for additional pictures, model, & serial number.but got some kind of convenient excuse why he couldn't send them. This seller near Woodstock was, at that time, selling a decent model banjo on craigslist. his return email address (from his response to me re: the MM) looked familiar to a seller's email address I received back from when I was first looking around for a banjo last June. by any chance was he located near Woodstock, IL?. Regarding the possible "bait & switch" seller on craigslist.
definite possibility of rip-off somewhere in this mix. with a seller location somewhere else!!! Would guess that it's a cr*p-shoot on whomever is 'actually' selling this 'jo. found the SAME **** PICTURES again for a MM on ebay. saw the EXACT SAME PICTURES.but seller was out of state (non IL) per the BHO member page and asking about $200 higher price. A day or so later.I was looking thru BHO. he didn't provide either a model or serial number on the one he had in the ad. In his reply he just wanted my phone number or for me to call him. They are not bad, but a little touchy in tuning, but once tuned the banjo stays in tune well. The tuners are probably the weakest part of the banjo. The bridge and tailpiece seem good as well. so I emailed the seller requesting a model AND serial number because I couldn't determine which one it was from the pictures. Banjo is heavy and the pot assembly seems to be of good quality. Regarding that MM on the Chicago craigslist.
